How to read this
Each month, interest accrues on the remaining balance (APR ÷ 12). Your payment reduces principal after interest. Extra dollars are treated as additional principal payment on this single balance.
This lab does not rank debts or tell you which one to pay first. It only shows the math for the numbers you enter.
Assumptions & method
- Fixed APR; interest compounded monthly on remaining balance.
- Payment applied monthly; if payment ≤ monthly interest, payoff is marked as not reachable at that payment.
- No fees, penalties, promotional rates, or credit-score effects modeled.
- Single-balance scenario only — no avalanche/snowball advice engine.
